Credentials: B.E. Chemical Engineering, Tsinghua University

Position title: GRADUATE STUDENT, CHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL ENGINEERING

Pronouns: she/her/hers

Research areas: Fatty alcohol biosynthesis, enzyme engineering, metabolic engineering.

I engineer the reversed β-oxidation (RβOx) pathway to get E. coli cranking out more fatty alcohols. Some days that means reconstituting enzymes in a test tube to track pathway kinetics, some days it’s mutating FadB until it plays nice, and some days it’s rewiring E. coli metabolism with genome edits so growth and production go hand in hand.

NYT sudoku is my daily brain cardio—hard mode done in 5 minutes flat.

My favorite punctuation mark is } because I can’t draw it, and that’s basically my research life.
