Research areas: synthetic biology, non-model organisms, cyanobacteria, methanotrophs
I’m working on engineering cyanobacteria and methanotrophs to turn carbon gases into valuable products. For cyanobacteria, I’m focused on utilizing dairy waste to make a high value biofertilizer. And for methanotrophs I’m focused on using wase methane to make fatty acid derived chemicals. Doing basic things in non-model is always a challenge but you’re allowed to get excited over 100mg/L titer, so you take the good with the bad. And try getting E. coli to turn AIR into PLASTIC, I dare you.
Fun facts: I make stained glass windows of pokemon and my steam library is up to 548 games (favorite of 2025 is Blue Prince).
